RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel), formed in September 2000, is a Public Sector Unit (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. The corporation aims to create a nationwide broadband telecom and multimedia network in all parts of the country.

As far as infrastructure goes, RailTel has created the state-of-the-art multimedia telecom network using SDH/DWDM-based transmission systems and high-end routers for MPLS-IP network.

From an initial OFC network of less than 5000 KM transferred to it in the year 2000-01, RailTel has since expanded the network to over 34000Km by 2008-09.  Read More>>
